The Kremlin called businessmen who took anti-Russian positions traitors

Entrepreneurs who took anti-Russian positions in order to get out of sanctions are traitors, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

“As for getting out of sanctions, we know that there are entrepreneurs who are slipping into anti-Russian positions, who are trying to get themselves out of sanctions for 12 pieces of silver. These are traitors,” he said.

At the same time, Moscow respects the decision of Russian businessmen to methodically defend their interests in court, Peskov emphasized.

Commenting on the European Union’s decision not to extend sanctions against several businessmen, Peskov noted that Russia does not understand the logic of sanctions or their lifting, which Brussels is guided by.

“It’s unlikely that anyone in Europe can explain this logic. This is what we know unequivocally,” he said. At the same time, the Kremlin representative reiterated that sanctions against Russian business contradict international law.

September 12, Russian President Vladimir Putin at the plenary session WEF commented August statement by Yandex co-founder Arkady Volozh, in which the entrepreneur condemned the special operation in Ukraine.

Commenting on the fact that Volozh stopped indicating the USSR as his homeland, Putin emphasized that such statements should remain on the conscience of their authors, however, as a rule, they are associated with the desire to preserve their business and assets.

“He lives in Israel, and I can imagine: in order to live there at a good level and have good relations with the authorities, he is forced to make certain statements. He sat and was silent for a long time, then decided to make a statement. Well, God bless him, let him live well there,” he said. The head of state believes that a person who has become successful in something should have a “sense of conscience” in relation to the country that “gave him everything.”

September 14 European Union published the names of four Russians, and against whom EU sanctions were not extended. Sanctions have been lifted from the owner of the ESN group Grigory Berezkin, the ex-head of Ozon Alexander Shulgin, the co-owner of Northgas Farkhad Akhmedov, as well as from the murdered Russian colonel Georgy Shuvaev.
