Russia and Turkey do have differences over the situation in Syria. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov in the program “Moscow. Kremlin. Putin” published in Telegram-channel of journalist Pavel Zarubin.
Nevertheless, the level of relations between Moscow and Ankara allows them to be resolved through negotiations. Peskov added that the existing level of mutual understanding and mutual respect between the countries is a good basis for discussing such difficult situations.
Earlier, Turkish presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said that Ankara does not intend to ask anyone for permission to conduct anti-terrorist operations.
Since November 20, Turkey has been conducting a special operation against the Syrian wing of the banned Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in northern Syria. Air strikes were carried out on the city of Kobani, as well as in northern Iraq. President Erdogan called the air operation a success, not ruling out that the ground operation would follow.
