Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov told reporters that he has nothing to say yet about the possibility of a meeting between Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
“I have nothing to tell you at the moment,” he said.
Earlier, the NYT, citing sources, reported that Kim Jong-un plans to visit Russia in September to meet with Putin. According to the publication, the leaders of the two countries will meet within the framework of the Eastern Economic Forum (WEF) in Vladivostok, scheduled for September 10-13. There is also a possibility that the North Korean leader will come to Moscow, but there is no certainty about this.
The newspaper, citing Western officials, claims that Russia and North Korea are allegedly planning to agree on cooperation in the military sphere, including the supply of weapons.
The last time Kim Jong-un came to Russia was in April 2019, when he met with Putin in Vladivostok. It was the first meeting between the leaders of the two countries, as well as the first trip by a North Korean leader to Russia since he came to power in 2011.
