The head of the Central Election Commission, Ella Pamfilova, said that on the first day of voting, the Central Election Commission received 213 appeals. According to her, most of them came from Moscow; they were related to the work of remote electronic voting (DEG).
“Mostly, the appeals were related to the unstable operation of the DEG services at the beginning, as well as failures of electronic voting terminals at polling stations,” said Ms. Pamfilova (quoted from RIA Novosti).
Users of the Moscow State Services (mos.ru) complained that they did not receive an SMS message with the code necessary for online participation, drew attention RBC. The reason for the delay was an attack on the servers of the Intermobility company, which is responsible for delivering messages, said its co-owner Daniil Titarenko.
“Our security services have detected an attempt to attack our system; therefore, in some cases there are delays in the delivery of SMS to participants in electronic voting. This does not affect the voting process in any way. Voters will receive an SMS, just with a slight delay, and will be able to vote,” he assured TASS.
Remote electronic voting in Moscow is organized on its own platform and has been carried out since 2019. In last year’s municipal elections and in the 2021 Duma elections, almost 2 million voters used electronic voting. September 7 at the Moscow City Election Commission divided decryption key for the results of electronic voting in the mayoral elections. Polling stations are open on September 8, 9 and 10 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
