And they immediately tried to disband the board

The consideration of the high-profile case of entrepreneur Oleg Medvedev, known in certain circles as Shishkan, will begin at the end of October at the 2nd Western District Military Court. It was only on the fifth attempt that the jury was selected. Medvedev and his accomplices are accused of extortion, banditry, murder, and illegal possession of weapons.

As MK learned, about 2,000 people living not only in Moscow, but also in other regions – Belgorod, Lipetsk, Kursk, Voronezh and other regions – received invitations to participate in the trial. Only 37 people showed up for the first gathering, a little more for the second, but almost everyone asked to be taken away, since it is inconvenient for lay judges to travel to the capital region for sessions. Therefore, only on the fifth attempt was it possible to form a jury. Nevertheless, among those who joined the board, the absolute majority are residents of other regions. 8 main and 12 alternate jurors have been selected. During the process, they will be provided with separate housing in Moscow, the location of which is kept in the strictest confidence.

After the panel was formed, the accused asked to dissolve it, citing gender inequality. The main jury consists of 6 women, mostly of retirement age, and two men. As you know, the main episode that Oleg Medvedev is charged with is the murder of the family of Ramensky Council deputy Tatyana Sidorova and his family members: husband, son and sick sister. The accused (there are 18 people in the dock in total) expressed concern that voicing the details of the brutal crime would have a lasting impression on the members of the panel. But the court refused the request to dissolve the board.
