The decision was made by the jury of judges, who had to analyze the controversial moment of the race for a long time, when Bolshunov rebuilt twice, interfering with Ustyugov. As a result, Sergei lost his rhythm of movement and was left without a medal. Punishment in the case of a guilty plea could result in a warning or disqualification.
The President of the FLGR told RIA Novosti that “Sasha was called”, they showed him the video footage and issued a warning. Bolshunov agreed with the decision.
The judges considered that there was contact, but Bolshunov did not allow a gross violation of the rules. The penalty was taken under the “interfering with other participants” clause.
Both skiers, despite Ustyugov’s doubts whether he will continue on the stage, will take part in the freestyle sprint, which will be held in Krasnogorsk on Tuesday.
