The Israel Institute for Jewish Policy Research (JPR) produced report about the rate of migration of the Jewish population. According to JPR, if the pace of migration continues, the Jewish population in Russia will decrease by another 50-60%. The study drew attention “Independent newspaper”.
According to the report, in 2022 the number of Russian and Ukrainian Jews who migrated to Israel increased five times compared to the previous year. From January to June 2023, the number of new residents of Israel who arrived from Russia amounted to 22,851 people, which is 32% more than in the same period of 2021. The level of migration is maintained in 2023.
By data Jewish Agency, since the beginning of 2022, about 70 thousand Jews from 95 countries have repatriated to Israel. This is the highest figure in 23 years, compared to 2021, it has grown by 2.4 times.
According to JPR researchers, the main reason for migration is the armed conflict in Ukraine. Until recently, Israel has maintained a neutral position on this issue. At the moment, the Israeli security model for Ukraine involves the supply of weapons and advanced technologies to Kyiv without the country’s immediate accession to NATO.
