Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has removed Yoav Galant from his post as head of the Galant Ministry of Defense. This is reported by The Jerusalem Post.
It is noted that the reason for this was the draft judicial reform prepared by the government, which provides for restrictions on the powers of the Supreme Court, as well as providing executive power with control over the selection of judges.
Oppositionists believe that such a reform “undermines the democratic foundations of the state.”
It is worth noting that Galant had previously warned that the judicial reform project was creating a rift in society that was also beginning to infiltrate Israel’s military structure, posing a threat to national security.
