Since the decree of the President of the Russian Federation declared 2023 the Year of the Teacher and Mentor, the International Pedagogical Congress “The Legacy of K.D.” was organized within the framework of the congress. Ushinsky and modern education”. The event is dedicated to the anniversary of the founder of Russian scientific pedagogy, Konstantin Ushinsky – this year marks the 200th anniversary of his birth.

This time, 4097 participants from 78 constituent entities of the Russian Federation and 24 countries registered to participate in the congress. Rector of Moscow State University, Deputy Chairman of the Society of Russian Literature, Academician Viktor Antonovich Sadovnichy welcomed the participants and thanked them for choosing the University as a venue for the annual congress.

“Dear colleagues and teachers, teachers of Russian literature, cultural figures and guests, please accept words of endless gratitude for the highest honor that you have shown to Moscow University by again choosing it as the venue for the congress of the Society of Russian Literature, which was created in March 2016 by decree of the President of our country Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin,” the rector of Moscow State University named after M.V. delivered a welcoming speech. Lomonosov Victor Antonovich Sadovnichy – The society was given the task of organizing a wide platform for discussing issues of teaching the Russian language and literature in schools and universities. I would like to note that today there are already 1,290 people in our society.”

Viktor Antonovich also greeted and gave the floor to the Chairman of the Society of Russian Literature, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, who spoke about the important role of mentoring in the fate of every child:

“Mentoring creates proper relationships between generations, allowing for respect for elders. Thanks to mentoring, the younger generation gains respect for those who share the experience accumulated by their predecessors,” noted Patriarch Kirill. – This is exactly what the Holy Scripture says: “Remember your teachers who preach the word of God to you, and imitate them.” Without the transfer of values, it is impossible to build a worthy future. Anyone who abandons tradition, considering it something outdated, abandons the past, because “tradition” in translation is “transmission”, this is the mechanism that transmits the values of the past to the present and actualizes this past in the present.” .

The Patriarch also noted that the image of the teacher determines how the subject he teaches will be perceived. “An overbearing, often irritated, hot-tempered and rude teacher will not only cause the student’s reluctance to once again turn to him with any question, but will also provoke rejection from the discipline being taught. Often a child says that he doesn’t like this or that subject, and then it turns out that he didn’t like the subject, but the teacher, and most likely was afraid of this teacher.”

Greetings and gratitude to the congress came from Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to whom the key task of the Society of Russian Literature is to increase the importance of the Russian language and literature.

Let us remind you that the congress will last until November 11, and the next day a scientific and practical conference “Russian as a foreign language in the mirror of modernity” is planned.
