Italian Minister of Economy and Finance Giancarlo Giorgetti proposed to take away the stadium from Juventus due to fraud.
Earlier it was reported that Juventus could be stripped of points in the Serie A table for fraudulent wages.
“If I thought the same way as the tax or the police, I would confiscate their stadium … I would cause them economic damage,” the official said, calling for a review of the entire sports justice system.
Juventus are reportedly involved in numerous lawsuits. The club is accused of falsifying capital gains and fiddling with the wages of players in order to hide income in the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 seasons.
Juventus agreed to cooperate with the prosecutor’s office, hoping to get off with a fine. However, the club may lose points in the new season. It is still unclear how large the points penalty will be requested, but it will be known as early as Monday, May 22, when Juventus will be issued a fine in another financial case that will apply to the 2022/2023 season.
