The Istanbul prosecutor’s office sent a case against Netanyahu for genocide to the Ministry of Justice

The Prosecutor General’s Office of Istanbul sent a criminal case against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the Turkish Ministry of Justice, transmits CNN Turk. The statement demands that he appear before the International Criminal Court (ICC) on charges of genocide in the Gaza Strip.
Earlier on November 14, it became known that lawyers of the Turkish ruling Justice and Development Party sent lawsuit against Netanyahu at the ICC. According to the initiators of the lawsuit, Netanyahu should stand trial for “the genocide he committed in the Gaza Strip and all crimes against humanity.” How explained one of them is in the TASS commentary; the application is now under consideration by the Ministry of Justice, which will transfer its physical copy to the ICC.
Since the beginning of the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has made a number of anti-Israel statements. So on October 28, at a rally in support of Palestine in Istanbul, he accused Tel Aviv of war crimes, promising to officially declare it a war criminal, and called the state of Israel an occupier. He later announced that he no longer sees Netanyahu as his interlocutor.
In November, he said Israel, as the West’s “spoiled child,” would be obligated to compensate the Palestinians for damages. He also called on Muslim countries to create a Gaza reconstruction fund.
