The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will oblige Russian and Belarusian athletes to sign updated conditions for participation in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. As the IOC press service reported, these conditions include the refusal of state symbols.
According to message The IOC, athletes who actively support the Russian military operation in Ukraine, will not be allowed to participate in the 2024 Olympics, even if they meet the necessary qualification standards. Also, athletes who are “connected with the military or security forces” of the Russian Federation will not be able to participate in the Games.
In December, the International Summer Sports Federations asked the IOC to allow Russian athletes to participate in the 2024 Olympics in Paris. We are talking about those whom the committee allowed to participate as a neutral athlete. Today, December 8, IOC admitted Russians and Belarusians before participating in the Games in a neutral status. At the moment, only 11 Russian and Belarusian athletes have qualified for the Olympics in Paris. Among them are eight Russians and three citizens of Belarus. The IOC separately notes that 60 Ukrainians qualified.
