The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has no plans to change the rules for access of Russian and Belarusian athletes to the Games in Paris. The IOC press service reported this against the backdrop of a statement by the President of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Stanislav Pozdnyakov. He admittedthat athletes will be required to publicly condemn the special operation in Ukraine in order to be allowed to compete.

“All principles were established and published by the IOC on December 8, 2023. They will not be changed,” the message says (quoted from “Match TV”).

The press service added that a decision on the implementation of these principles will be made at the committee summit, which will be held from March 19 to 20 in Lausanne (Switzerland).

According to the current decision of the IOC Executive Committee, Russian and Belarusian athletes who did not publicly support the special military operation in Ukraine will be allowed to participate in the Olympic Games in Paris. They will be able to take part in the competition in a neutral status.

Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin statedthat the decision on the participation of Russian athletes in the Olympics will be made only after the final approval of the admission criteria by the international committee.
