Countries that violate the Olympic Charter and prevent the participation of athletes from other countries may lose the right to organize the Olympic Games. This was stated by the chairman of the IOC for choosing the venue for the Olympics, former President of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic
She clarified that the final decision on the location of the 2036 Summer Olympics will be made no earlier than 2026 or 2027. According to Grabar-Kitarovic, at least 10 countries are bidding to host the 2036 Games.
On Sunday, James McLeod, the IOC’s director of relations with National Olympic Committees (NOCs), stressed that the IOC firmly rejects calls from some states for the complete exclusion of Russian and Belarusian athletes.
