The IOC threatened athletes with sanctions for participating in the Friendship Games

James MacLeod, Director of the International Olympic Committee’s Department for Relations with National Olympic Committees, in a conversation with reporters, explained what the decision to participate in the World Friendship Games 2024 could mean for athletes.

According to him, sanctions may be applied against these athletes.

“This issue should be considered in more detail by the IOC executive committee. Much will depend on the severity of the violations,” MacLeod said.

Let us remind you that the Friendship Games will be held from September 15 to 29, 2024 in Yekaterinburg and Moscow.

Previously The IOC banned Russians from participating in the parade of athletes at the opening of the Olympic Games in Paris.
