The press service of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) reported RBCthat six Russians and five Belarusians who received licenses to participate in the 2024 Olympics in Paris compete in sports such as wrestling, cycling, rowing and swimming.
“Today, athletes (from Russia and Belarus.— “Kommersant”) as individual neutral athletes (AIN) received eleven quotas for the Olympic Games in Paris: six in wrestling, three in cycling, one in rowing and one in swimming,” the IOC said.
At the same time, the organization did not specify which quotas were received by Russians and which by Belarusians. The IOC added that the names of athletes who have received licenses will be confirmed at later stages of the athlete eligibility process.
On December 8, the IOC announced that 11 individual neutral athletes had qualified for the Olympic Games in Paris: eight with Russian citizenship and three with Belarusian citizenship. Today, December 14, the organization changed the number of licenses issued to Russians – now athletes from the Russian Federation have five, and Belarusians have six.
The IOC allowed Russians and Belarusians to participate in the Olympics as so-called individual neutral athletes if they qualified for it in accordance with the regulations of the relevant federation. Athletes will be able to compete in a white or plain uniform with the abbreviation AIN or the IOC approved emblem printed on it.
