The IOC Executive Board recommended not to reinstate the rights of the International Boxing Association

The Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended to the leadership of the organization not to return the recognition of the International Boxing Association (IBA). This is reported in press release on the IOC website.
In the release, this decision is explained by the report on the situation with the IBA dated June 2. It states that the association has not met the necessary conditions for the return of the December 2021 status. At the same time, the IOC Executive Committee recommended that the session keep boxing in the program of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The next session on this issue will be held on June 22.
According to ReutersOn June 5, the IBA sent a letter to the IOC informing them that all the requirements, the failure to comply with which led to the actual disqualification, had been met. The IBA refused to renew the contract with the general sponsor, Gazprom, ensured managerial and financial stability, and also resolved the judicial issue. The letter indicated that despite the fulfillment of the conditions, the IBA had not received a response.
The conflict between the IBA and the IOC has been going on since 2019. Then the IOC withdrew the recognition of the IBA, which was experiencing an administrative and financial crisis.
