The most famous Soviet maniac Andrei Chikatilo, convicted of murdering 44 people, could have unsolved crimes. Such an opinion voiced “Lente.ru” legendary investigator Issa Kostoev.
Kostoev was the deputy head of the Department for the Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the Prosecutor’s Office of the RSFSR. The investigative group of this department managed to detain Chekotilo.
“It seems to me that he gave us everything he remembered,” the investigator said.
At the same time, he admitted that “he could have left one or two corpses – most likely in the Mines.”
Kostoev explained that it was in Shakhty, a city in the Rostov region, that the maniac committed the most murders, after which “local police were taken under special control in Moscow.” And, in order not to complicate their lives, the Shakhty policemen, according to the investigator, tried to get rid of all the unknown remains.
Kostoev also stated that at the turn of the 80s and 90s, each corpse “played against them”, showed that they were not working well. “And if there is no body, there is no case,” he said.
