The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against activist Misik for justifying the terrorist attack

The Moscow office of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia opened a criminal case against activist Olga Misik for publicly justifying terrorism (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). This is stated in the search warrant of the Investigative Committee, which the activist published in her Telegram channel.

“The investigation established that O. V. Misik posted a publication on her Miss Misik page justifying D. Trepova’s terrorist act against V. Tatarsky,” the document says.

The search at Ms. Misik’s place of residence in the Moscow region began at 6:20 Moscow time. As the activist wrote on Telegram, the police did not seize anything and were looking for the girl herself. In October 2023, she reported that she was outside Russia.

Ms. Misik is also known as the “girl with the Constitution”: during protests in Moscow in 2019, she approached riot police and police and read passages from it aloud. A year later, a girl and two other activists poured paint on the entrance to the building of the Prosecutor General’s Office, for which the court sentenced her to 2 years of restriction of freedom for vandalism (Part 2 of Article 14 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

On November 10, 2022, the Ministry of Internal Affairs put Olga Misik on the wanted list. After the explosion in a St. Petersburg cafe on April 2, where military correspondent Vladlen Tatarsky was killed, the activist published a post on her social networks. The investigation saw it as a “justification for a terrorist act.”
