The Investigative Committee opened a case of terrorist attack due to the derailment of carriages in the Ryazan region

Employees of the Western Interregional Transport Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case under articles of terrorism and illegal storage of explosives in connection with the derailment of carriages in the Ryazan region. “A criminal case has been initiated on the grounds of a crime provided for in paragraph. “a”, “c” part 2 art. 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (terrorist act), paragraph “a”, part 3 of Art. 222.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal acquisition, transfer, storage, transportation, forwarding or carrying of explosives or explosive devices),” the message says.

According to the investigation, on November 11 at 7:12 am, an improvised explosive device was detonated on the 190 km of the 3rd main route of the Rybnoye – Block Post 204 km station, as a result of which 19 freight train cars derailed. The train ran from the Titan station of the Oktyabrskaya Railway to the Yulyevka station of the Volga Railway. 15 out of 19 carriages were damaged, experts are assessing the damage caused.

Cases of interference in the work of the railway have become more frequent after the start of a special operation in Ukraine. In early May, officers of the Russian FSB Directorate for the Chelyabinsk Region detained three people who were trying to commit sabotage on a railway section. On June 11, train traffic was suspended in the Kirov region of Crimea due to damage to the railway track, and in mid-May, grain cars derailed on the peninsula. At the end of June, on the Rostokino – Vladykino section (MCC) in Moscow, unknown persons set fire to railway equipment.
