The Investigative Committee of Russia has completed the investigation into the criminal case of an attack on Pskov paratroopers in 2000, RIA Novosti reports.
According to the investigation, on February 29, 2000, Ilgam Gumerov, Ilgiz Mukhametgaliev, Khaidar Razzakov and Mukhamedvali Shaikhutdinov participated in an attack on Pskov paratroopers. We are talking about paratroopers of the 6th company of the 104th regiment of the 76th Pskov Airborne Division. The above persons acted as part of a gang led by Khattab and Shamil Basayev. The attack took place near the Chechen village of Ulus-Kert.
84 paratroopers were killed in the battle. Investigators reported that they had collected enough evidence and took the case to court.
23 gang members have already been sentenced to long terms of imprisonment, five are wanted. Two were killed while resisting.
