The investigation asks for a preventive measure in the form of a ban on certain actions in the case of the former mayor of Yekaterinburg, Yevgeny Roizman, informs TASS with reference to the press service of the Verkh-Isetsky district court of the city.
Materials on choosing a measure of restraint have already been submitted to the court. “The Verkh-Isetsky District Court of Yekaterinburg received materials on the choice of a preventive measure against Roizman E.V. The consideration is scheduled for 16:00 (14:00 Moscow time) on August 25, 2022. Judge Mamontova Oksana Alexandrovna,” the press service of the Sverdlovsk Regional Court says.
Roizman was detained August 24 for 48 hours in a criminal case on discrediting the Russian army. It was noted that a criminal case was initiated against the ex-mayor of Yekaterinburg under Part 1 of Art. 280.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public actions aimed at discrediting the use of the RF Armed Forces). The maximum punishment for it provides for up to five years in prison.
Earlier, Roizman was fined three times for discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (part 1 of article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). In March, the Oktyabrsky Court of Yekaterinburg found him guilty and ordered him to pay two fines in the amount of 50,000 rubles. each. On April 7, Roizman received a third fine for a similar amount. All defense appeals were dismissed.
Subsequently, in May, he received an administrative penalty in the form of a fine of 85,000 rubles. under the article on disrespect for a representative of the authorities in the person of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. The reason was a post on Instagram (owned by the company Meta, recognized as extremist and banned in the territory of the Russian Federation). In August, the defense appeal was also rejected by the court.
