The International Skating Union extended the suspension of figure skaters from Russia and Belarus

Skaters from Russia and Belarus will not compete in international competitions. The decision to extend the restriction accepted International Skating Union (ISU).
The sports union explained their decision with “sympathy and solidarity” with athletes from Ukraine. “The Council will continue to monitor the situation in Ukraine and its impact on the activities of the ISU, as well as decisions and their implementation within the framework of the Olympic Movement. Meanwhile, ISU Communiqué 2469 [об отстранении российских и белорусских спортсменов] remains in force,” the office added.
May 11 International Fencing Federation (FIE) didn’t allow to participate in the competitions of two-time Olympic champions Sofia Velikaya, Yana Yegoryan and Sofia Pozdnyakova.
According to the President of the Russian Fencing Federation, Ilgar Mammadov, the FIE sent a list of saber fencers that they could allow to participate in international competitions, but there were no “promising strong guys”. FIE, according to him, in the letter referred to the recommendation of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
On March 28, IOC President Thomas Bach announced that the organization supports the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes in a neutral status, however, for this, athletes must condemn the hostilities in Ukraine and not be associated with the Russian and Belarusian armed forces or national security agencies.
In April, the president of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), Stanislav Pozdnyakov, announced that the Russian committee would develop its own recommendations from all-Russian sports federations regarding the IOC. On May 25, he condemned the signing of political declarations by Russian athletes to participate in international competitions, and the committee promised to “restore justice.”
