The International Gymnastics Federation will consider the issue of admitting Russians to competitions in July

The Executive Committee of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) left the decision to exclude Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in international competitions without any changes. President of the Russian Artistic Gymnastics Federation (FSGR) Vasily Titov clarified that FIG will continue to discuss the issue of admitting athletes from Russia and Belarus at a meeting in July.

“Following a new assessment of the situation with Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials, the FIG Executive Committee considers that the measures already taken on March 1-2, 2023… remain in full force without any further changes. As Vasily Titov clarified to RIA Novosti, the FIG executive committee postponed until July the decision on the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes. The next meeting of the executive committee of the federation will be held on July 19-20 in the Swiss city of Lausanne.

Russian and Belarusian gymnasts were suspended by the FIG from international competitions on March 4, 2022. March 4, 2023 FIG announced on the extension of sanctions against gymnasts in Russia and Belarus.
