The International Fencing Federation rejected Ukraine's proposal to suspend Russia's membership

The Congress of the International Fencing Federation did not support the proposal of the Ukrainian Fencing Federation to suspend Russia’s membership in the organization, reported President of the Russian Fencing Federation Ilgar Mamedov.

The Congress took place in Sharm el-Sheikh (Egypt). Mr. Mamedov took part in it. According to him, Ukraine has submitted for consideration the issues of suspending the membership of Russia and Belarus, as well as a ban on Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in competitions. Congress participants did not support the proposal.

In March 2022, athletes from Russia and Belarus banned participate in international competitions after the recommendation of the International Olympic Committee. March 10, 2023 FIE decided allow athletes to participate in tournaments in a neutral status. However, the organization refused access to almost all the leaders of the Russian saber team to participate in its tournaments.
