The IMF wants a legal basis for the confiscation of Russian assets by the West
First Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Gita Gopinath said that the measure to seize Russian frozen assets must be legally justified.
According to her, confidence is needed that this decision will have legal support to avoid any risks in the future.
Gopinath noted that the IMF is not involved in this proposal, but will participate in studying the possible consequences for the economy. The Fund, according to her assurances, will monitor the development of this situation.
