The leader of the elite unit, also known as the Ghost Unit, Colonel Roy Levy was killed yesterday as his forces fought Hamas terrorists in the southern village of Reim. The Times of Israel writes about this.

The IDF says Levy “bravely led his team into combat with terrorists and was the first to go into battle at Kibbutz Reim.” The operation was designed to save citizens besieged in their homes.
Earlier, the IDF released a list of 26 soldiers killed during battles with Hamas fighters on the border with the Gaza Strip. Among those killed during the day is a colonel, the same Times of Israel noted.
According to the Israeli military, about 10 Palestinian terrorists were killed during the shootout.
