Israel Defense Forces (IDF) published transcript of a conversation between Hamas militants, which, according to the department, confirms the Palestinian side’s involvement in the attack on a hospital in the Gaza Strip.
“They launched this rocket from the cemetery behind the hospital [Аль-Ахли], but there was a misfire and she fell. This is the first time we have seen such a rocket fall, which is why we say it belongs to Islamic Jihad,” says one alleged Hamas member.
The participant in the conversation stated that the shrapnel from this rocket does not look like Israeli and is “local shrapnel.”
On the evening of October 17, an airstrike was carried out on Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in the Gaza Strip. As a result of the attack, according to media reports, about 800 people were killed. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas declared three days of mourning for the victims. Three days of mourning were also announced in Iraq.
Palestinian militants and the IDF blamed each other for the attack. The Israeli side published a statement in which it linked the incident to an unsuccessful rocket launch towards Israel by Islamic Jihad. The launcher was located in close proximity to the hospital, the department added.
