Temperatures near and above normal are predicted throughout Russia from April to September – during the so-called growing season, which is considered the main period of plant growth. Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center, spoke about this on Wednesday, April 3.

The expert noted that “in these forecasts you will not see a blue color – there is a pink color, which means that the temperature is near normal, but the anomalies are positive; bluish is near normal, but the anomalies are negative.”

In addition, in these forecasts, “the color red is quite common, that is, the temperature is above normal,” the meteorologist said. He also clarified that June and July will be warmer than last year in the European territory of Russia.

At the same time, Vilfand emphasized that the presented forecast for April-September is still subject to adjustment, while it is preliminary.

In early April, meteorologists recorded in Russia 75 temperature records at once, but the thermometer will show even higher levels. Until the end of the month, temperatures are expected to be three to five degrees above normal in most regions.

Meanwhile, winter has returned to St. Petersburg. On April 3, rain and sleet fell in the Northern capital, and ice formed. A gusty north wind added to the discomfort of the weather.
