The hydrometeorological center predicts abnormal cold in Russia in the coming days

In several regions of the Russian Federation in the coming days the temperature will drop to minus 40–50°C, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand told TASS. According to him, very cold weather is expected “over a vast territory of the country.”
It is predicted that from December 2 to 6 in the regions of the Northwestern Federal District the temperature will drop 7–14 degrees below normal, in some places by 15–20 degrees. In most regions, frosts will reach –16…–23°С, and in the Arkhangelsk region, Komi and Nenets Autonomous Okrug –30°С. In the Central Federal District, frosts down to –16…–23°C are expected on December 5 and 6.
Abnormally cold weather is also expected in the regions of the Urals, Volga region, Siberia and the Far East. In the Perm Territory, Kirov Region, Udmurtia and Mari El there will be frosts down to -23°C, in the Yamalo-Nenets and Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrugs – down to -30…-41°C, in the Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk, Kurgan, Tyumen regions – down to –20…–27°С, in the Tomsk and Omsk regions – up to –27…–35°С.
It will get especially cold in the Krasnoyarsk, Magadan and Khabarovsk territories, Yakutia and Chukotka. In particular, in the Taimyr and Evenki regions from December 2 to 6 there will be frosts down to –35…–42°C. In the Magadan Territory and Chukotka – up to –43…–49°С, in Yakutia – in some places up to –54°С. In the south of the Khabarovsk Territory, from December 3 to 6, the temperature will drop to –35…–40°C.”
In the Moscow region announced yellow level of weather danger due to ice. By forecast weather forecasters, today, December 2, in the capital it will be –5…–7°C (in the Moscow region –4…–9°C), cloudy with clearings, and light snow in places. On December 3, the temperature in Moscow and the region will remain at the same level, with heavy snow, blizzards and snow drifts possible in places.
