The hydrometeorological center predicts a thaw for most of Russia this week

A thaw will come to all federal districts this week. It will begin first in the Central and Northwestern Federal Districts. The exception is the Far East, where severe frosts will come instead of a thaw. Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, told TASS about this.
“Starting Monday, there will be a thaw in the Arkhangelsk, Murmansk, Vologda, Pskov, and Leningrad regions. In the regions of the Central Federal District there is a similar situation. Then the air from the Atlantic, which brings such warm weather, will confidently move across the territory of Russia and further,” said Roman Vilfand.
From Tuesday, December 19, the thaw will begin in the Volga Federal District, in the Ural Federal District, as well as in the Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk, and Kurgan regions – from Wednesday, December 20. By the end of the working week, a thaw will come to Siberia. Temperatures will rise to 0°C in the Novosibirsk and Kemerovo regions, as well as in the south of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
The thaw will not come to the Far Eastern Federal District and eastern Siberia. In Transbaikalia, Buryatia, the Amur region, in the south of the Khabarovsk Territory and Primorye, frosts will reach 33-40°C and even 43°C.
