The “Honest Sign” application has been made mandatory for pre-installation on gadgets

The government included the “Honest Sign” application in the list of mandatory ones for pre-installation on gadgets in 2023-2024. The order on this was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, transmits press service of the Cabinet of Ministers.

“The decision to expand the list of software required for pre-installation was made for the convenience of users,” the message says.

“Honest Mark” is a unified national system of digital labeling and tracking of goods: a special digital code helps to distinguish a counterfeit from the original and provides access to information about the product manufacturer, shelf life, time and place of production or sale and other information about the product.

Information about each movement of such a digital code is stored in a state database. The purpose of this system is to combat unscrupulous manufacturers and their low-quality counterfeit products. To check a product through the “Honest Sign” application, it is enough to scan a special graphic symbol on the packaging; if it is not there, then you can file a complaint with the system through the application, which has already been downloaded 11.5 million times.

From September 1 in Russia started mandatory labeling of medical products, baby water, soft drinks and juices, dietary supplements, antiseptics and wheelchairs. From December 1, labeling will be mandatory for non-alcoholic drinks in polymer or glass packaging, with the exception of juices, nectars, plant-based milk and compotes.

From 1 March 2024, soft drinks in aluminum cans will also be required to be labeled. Starting from June 1, 2024, the labeling will extend to juices, nectars, plant-based milk, compotes and other types of soft drinks.

The law on the pre-installation of domestic software on devices sold in the country, including smartphones, tablets, PCs, laptops and TVs with Smart TV function, has been in effect in Russia since April 1, 2021. The list of applications required for installation includes VK and Yandex services , Kaspersky Lab, My Office, State Services, the Mir payment system, etc. The law does not provide for the installation of domestic operating systems.
