APU at the Zaporizhzhya NPP is hitting a dry storage facility for spent nuclear fuel. According to Vladimir Rogov, a member of the main council of the military-civilian administration (MAC) of the Zaporozhye region, it located in an open area.
In his opinion, hitting one of the storage complexes is enough to create a nuclear catastrophe. It can be compared to the detonation of a “dirty bomb,” Rogov emphasized.
Earlier, Vladimir Kuznetsov, the former head of the radiation safety inspectorate of the USSR Gosatomnadzor, explained that the consequences of an attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on spent fuel storage facilities at ZNPP feelt at least nine European countries, from Turkey to the Baltics.
