Poland promised to “adequately” respond to the deployment of “Daggers” in Kaliningrad

Poland intends to adequately respond to the deployment of hypersonic missiles by Russia in the Kaliningrad region, up to the implementation of Article 5. NATO Charter on Collective Defense, said Polish Secretary of State for Defense Wojciech Skurkiewicz, reports PAP.

Former Russian Ministry of Defense statedthat three MiG-31 aircraft equipped with Kinzhal hypersonic missiles were transferred to the Kaliningrad region as part of strategic deterrence measures.

“Our actions and consultations with our allies and NATO headquarters are and will be adequate to the threats and actions taken by the Russian Federation,” Skurkevich said.

He recalled Art. 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty, which stipulates that an attack on one member state of the alliance is tantamount to an attack on all countries of the alliance, and called this provision “realizable”. According to Skurkiewicz, cooperation within NATO is “the basis for ensuring the security of Poland”, and all existing guarantees and obligations “were and remain in force.”

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic, Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said that Poland’s ground forces would become the strongest among NATO countries in Europe. The Polish politician noted that Poland sees Russia as its likely military adversary. He stressed that his country has a border with the Russian Federation and Belarus and, thus, is located on the “front line”.

Earlier, the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) of Russia accused Poland of being ready to go for more active cooperation on the Ukrainian issue with Hungary and Romania, covering up its plans to seize the western part of Ukraine. At the end of June, the head of the service Sergey Naryshkin declaredthat the leadership of Poland has already begun to work out scenarios for the de facto dismemberment of Ukraine. According to the SVR, Poland’s plan will be forced to support the United States and Great Britain. “Washington and London will have no choice but to show unconditional solidarity with an ally who is ready to resolutely defend the interests of the West in Ukraine,” the service noted.

Naryshkin also noted that the authorities of Poland and the United States are developing plans to establish military-political control of Warsaw over its “historical possessions” in Ukraine. According to him, at the first stage of “reunification”, Polish troops should enter the western regions of Ukraine, allegedly to protect against Russian aggression.
