The heads of regions replaced by Putin in May became leaders in the elections

The acting governors of Tomsk, Kirov, Ryazan, Saratov regions and the acting head of Mari El took the lead after counting the first ballots. All of them were appointed Russian President Vladimir Putin after the leaders of these five regions on the same day – May 11 – announced their resignation.
Preliminary results by the evening of September 11, according to the CEC online scoreboard:
- The head of the Tomsk region Vladimir Mazur – 84.26%, 90.08% of the protocols were processed
- The head of the Kirov region Alexander Sokolov – 74.19%, 0.26% processed
- The head of the Ryazan region Pavel Malkov – 82.39%, more than 20% processed
- The head of the Saratov region Roman Busargin – 78.44%, more than 11.63% processed
- Head of Mari El Yuri Zaitsev – 70.31%, 0.2% processed
On May 11, governors Sergei Zhvachkin (Tomsk region), Igor Vasiliev (Kirov region), Nikolai Lyubimov (Ryazan region), Valery Radaev (Saratov region) and Alexander Evstifeev (Mari El) announced their resignations.
