Acting Governor of the Zaporozhye region Yevgeny Balitsky on the air of the TV channel “Crimea 24” gave his own interpretation of the jargon “quilted jacket”. The word is considered derogatory and is often used in relation to citizens who romanticize the times of the USSR by their ideological opponents.

“A jersey or padded jacket – that was what warmed our grandmothers, our guys who forged Victory in the rear, – declared Balitsky in the studio of the TV channel. “It’s a symbol, like the T-34 tank.”

According to the guest of the program, he is “actually a quilted jacket” and is proud of it.

“I am proud that I am a quilted jacket <...> My grandmother forged Victory in a padded jacket. There is nothing wrong with that,” Balitsky said.

He summed up his statement with a call to “be proud and know your history.”
