Head of the Republic of Tuva Vladislav Khovalyg reported on the launch of three mobile boiler houses to restore heat supply in Shagonar. On March 6, an explosion occurred at the city thermal power plant, leaving 278 residential buildings without heat.

“We are gradually returning warmth to Shagonar. Specialists worked all night to launch mobile boiler units. Three are already in operation. The remaining five are being prepared for launch,” Mr. Khovalyg wrote in the Telegram channel.

The explosion at the thermal power plant occurred on the morning of March 6. The preliminary cause of the accident is the accumulation of coal gases. As a result of the explosion, 23 station workers were injured, 15 of them were hospitalized. The fire was extinguished just after 18:00. There are 278 residential buildings left without heat supply (a third of the city’s buildings), which are home to about 4 thousand people. In addition, 19 social facilities were left without heat. Criminal cases have been initiated regarding negligence (Part 2 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and violation of industrial safety requirements for hazardous production facilities (Article 217 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
