The president of the interregional Uzbek community “Vatandosh”, Usman Baratov, was detained in Moscow. The Moscow office of the Investigative Committee of Russia (ICR) opened a case against him under paragraph “c” of Part 2 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code (incitement of hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity). According to investigators, in December 2023, Mr. Baratov published posts on social networks that humiliated citizens of the Russian Federation, including participants in hostilities on the territory of Ukraine.

January 17, Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin instructed initiate a criminal case for insulting participants in the military operation against Usman Baratov. According to paragraph “c” of Part 2 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code Usman Baratov faces up to 6 years in prison.
