Chairman of the Union of Journalists of Russia (UJR) Vladimir Solovyov believes that Russian journalism “dignifiedly passed on June 24.” The night before, on June 23, the founder of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin announced a “march of justice” to Moscow. The Russian authorities perceived his actions as an armed rebellion.
“Our Russian journalism passed this extremely difficult day very worthily. We did not record any violations of the law and journalistic ethics. There were no problems, everyone already understands how to work in such a mobilization format. Covid taught us this, NWO. Everything worked out clearly,” Mr. Solovyov told RIA Novosti. According to him, the UJR was in touch with a large number of journalists during this period.
On the evening of June 23, Yevgeny Prigozhin announced a “march of justice” against Moscow, the Russian authorities considered it an armed rebellion and opened a criminal case. On June 24, the SZhR website published statementin which Vladimir Solovyov called on Russian and foreign journalists to “fulfill their professional duty with the utmost responsibility and not succumb to informational provocations.”
The situation with Yevgeny Prigozhin was settled by the evening of June 24 through the mediation of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. The head of the PMC said that his fighters had gone to field camps. Mr. Prigozhin himself must leave for Belarus. However, according to Kommersant, the case of organizing an armed rebellion (Article 279 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) against Yevgeny Prigozhin continues be investigated.
