The head of the Kherson region denied rumors about the conscription of residents of the region in the RF Armed Forces

Reports that residents of the Kherson region are being drafted into the ranks of the Russian Armed Forces for military service do not correspond to reality. This was announced on Tuesday, May 16, by the acting head of the region, Vladimir Saldo.

As the politician emphasized in his Telegram channel, “the deceitful propagandists of the Kyiv regime are making another stuffing that in the Kherson region they are forcibly conscripting men into the RF Armed Forces and “thrown” them to the forefront.”

This is an absolute lie, moreover, invented on the model of Ukraine, where mobilization is carried out with particular cruelty towards the inhabitants of Novorossia and with sparing conditions – in Western Ukraine and in Kiev, said Saldo.

The acting head of the Kherson region recalled that residents of the region who wish to rid Ukraine of neo-Nazism with weapons in their hands can enroll in the Volunteer Battalion named after Vasily Margelov. It already includes residents of Odessa, Kiev, as well as people from other regions of Ukraine, who during the special operation “stand in line with our soldiers to defend the primordially Russian lands.”

Kherson region, along with the DPR, LPR and Zaporozhye region, became part of the Russian Federation after referendums in September 2022. In 2023, the spring conscription in the Russian Armed Forces is held from April 1 to July 15, but this does not affect the new regions of the country. It was also decided not to send conscripts to serve in these four constituent entities of the Russian Federation.

One of the residents of the Kherson region told MK that “when almost every day something arrives in your city or village or something explodes somewhere, you get used to living in a tense environment.” At the same time, according to him, “There is no panic in the Kherson region”.
