Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin instructed the head of the Western Interregional Investigation Department for Transport of the TFR to initiate a criminal case on the fact of improper provision of services by the Red Wings airline. This was reported in the press service of the department on Tuesday, August 15.
The media reported that between August 12 and 14, 2023, Russian tourists could not fly from airports in a number of countries. Passengers had to stay in uncomfortable conditions for a long time and wait for departure.
On this basis, Bastrykin instructed to initiate a criminal case against the Red Wings airline.
On August 14, it was reported that Russian tourists who were supposed to fly on a Red Wings flight from Antalya, Turkey to Yekaterinburg, had to wait almost 12 hours. At the same time, in the first hours, the airline did not provide people with food or water.
Later, representatives of the carrier stated that the reason for the delay of two flights WZ-3061 and WZ-3062 (Yekaterinburg – Antalya and back) of the Red Wings airline was the failure of two aircraft. The company said it understands that “flight delays have caused inconvenience” and also apologized.
