The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is going to create a permanent mission on the territory of the Zaporozhye NPP. This statement was made by the director of the organization Rafael Grossi.

“The IAEA expects to organize a permanent mission to the ZNPP,” said Grossi (quote according to TASS).

Earlier about the plans of the IAEA to leave part of the representatives at the ZNPP on a permanent basis declared Permanent Representative of Russia to International Organizations in Vienna Mikhail Ulyanov. Possibility of permanent presence at the station of IAEA experts at the end of August allowed and Grossi.

A delegation of IAEA specialists consisting of 14 people arrived in Kyiv on August 30, the mission was headed by Grossi. The Wall Street Journal reported that the mission will last from August 31 to September 3. Earlier today it became known that the IAEA delegation moved out of Kyiv towards the ZNPP.

French President Emmanuel Macron said last week that France had received security guarantees from Russia and Ukraine for the IAEA mission to the station.

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that the IAEA delegation will visit the ZNPP territory from the zones controlled by the Ukrainian armed forces. The safety of specialists will be ensured by them, Peskov stressed. At the same time, he stated that the mission would be guaranteed security during its stay on the territory of the ZNPP.

During a special operation in Ukraine, the Russian military took control of the ZNPP. At the same time, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has repeatedly emphasized that it does not use the facility for military purposes and does not place weapons on its territory. The discussion of the visit of the IAEA mission to the station has been going on since the beginning of August, when the shelling of the nuclear power plant became more frequent. Russia and Ukraine blame each other for the attacks on the station.
