The head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry said who accuses his country of “bribe”

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó, in an interview with the Mandiner portal, commented on reports that the 10 billion euros unfrozen for Hungary were allegedly a “bribe” from the European Commission so that Budapest would not veto the start of negotiations with Ukraine on joining the EU.

Earlier it was reported that Hungary did not veto the start of negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU, after which the European Commission announced that it would unblock 10.2 billion euros due to Hungary from pan-European funds. Hungary could not receive this money amid accusations of non-compliance with European rule of law.

Szijjártó noted that “everyone judges for himself.” According to him, the EU and the European Parliament employ officials who have even served prison sentences for corruption.

“What can we expect from them? Obviously, when they say that Hungary received a bribe, they judge by themselves,” said the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, comparing European politics to a swamp.

He also accused European politicians of thinking in headlines and lacking strategic vision. Szijjártó also noted the instability of many European governments due to the fact that coalitions, rather than entire parties, usually come to power.

Earlier it was reported that Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at the EU summit in Brussels convinced her Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orban not to interfere with the launch of negotiations on future membership in the European Union with Ukraine and Moldova. As noted, in the end, Orban chose to leave the hall so as not to participate in the discussions, but did not block the start of the negotiations. At the same time, Orban previously accused Kyiv of not fulfilling the conditions necessary to begin negotiations on membership in the European Union.
