The head of the German Foreign Ministry arrived in Kyiv

German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock arrived in Kyiv on an unannounced visit. About it informs German Foreign Ministry.

The Süddeutsche Zeitung writes that Burbock’s trip was not announced in advance “for security reasons”. This is the fourth visit of the German Foreign Minister to Ukraine since the beginning of the special operation. Burbock’s work schedule is not disclosed.

During the trip, Burbock said that Berlin sees EU enlargement as “a necessary geopolitical consequence” of the sting operation. She stressed that Germany will continue to support Kyiv “on the way to the European Union.”

The head of the German Foreign Ministry praised the efforts of the Ukrainian authorities to reform the judiciary and media legislation. At the same time, the minister added, Ukraine has yet to implement the anti-oligarchic law and resolve the issue of corruption.

Last week, on September 6, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited Kyiv. He met with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba. Following his trip to Ukraine, Blinken announced on the allocation of more than $1 billion in additional financial assistance to Ukraine.

Then the Pentagon reported about the allocation of the 46th assistance package to Ukraine in the amount of $175 million, which, in particular, included shells with depleted uranium for Abrams tanks.
