Deputy Secretary of the General Council of United Russia, head of its central executive committee, Alexander Sidyakin, will receive the mandate of a State Duma deputy, vacated after Igor Kastyukevich transferred to the Federation Council, he said in his Telegram– channel Secretary of the General Council of the Party Andrei Turchak.
According to him, this decision was made based on the results of an absentee vote of the General Council. “I’ve known Alexander for a long time and well. His rich managerial experience, competencies and energy more than once allowed the teams in which he worked to overcome the most difficult situations,” said Mr. Turchak, adding that Alexander Sidyakin in his new status will continue to lead the party’s executive committee.
September 20 Kherson Regional Duma accepted the decision to vest Igor Kastyukevich with the powers of a senator from the legislative branch of the region. A few days earlier, the State Duma terminated his powers as a member of parliament at his own request. In the elections to the Legislative Assembly of the Kherson region, Mr. Kastyukevich was one of the three leaders of the United Russia list. A plenary meeting of the Federation Council is scheduled to take place next week, at which Mr. Kastyukevich’s powers as a senator will be finally approved.
Alexander Sidyakin has been heading the executive committee of the party in power since the end of 2021. In the State Duma elections, he was on the United Russia list for the Republic of Bashkortostan, which now gives him the right to apply for a deputy mandate. In the party, Mr. Sidyakin, in particular, is responsible for updating the United Russia electoral base, and at this year’s regional elections he oversaw election campaigns in new regions.
