Lieutenant General, Director of the US Department of Defense Intelligence Agency Scott Berrier expressed his personal opinion that Russian President Vladimir Putin can change the goals of the special operation on the territory of Ukraine.

“Now we have come to a point where I think Putin will have to reconsider the goals of his operation,” transmits Associated Press news agency, the words of the head of intelligence of the Pentagon, said at a conference on national security.

Berrier evasively noted that it was about a certain “current situation” and about limited resources.

At the same time, the American general admitted that US intelligence does not know what the decision of the Russian leader will be, but assumes that the Russian president will take into account how long the conflict will last.

In turn, CIA Deputy Director David Cohen, who spoke next, said that American intelligence does not see concrete evidence of Moscow’s planning to use weapons of mass destruction in Ukraine.

American generals likely believe that Western sanctions will have a significant impact on Russia.
