The leadership of the “Formula 1” promises not to negotiate the holding of races in Russia. This was stated by the executive director of the “Royal Races” Stefano Domenicali.
Money is important to management, he says, but it’s not the only thing they pay attention to. “I always say – never say never. But in this case, I can promise – we will no longer conduct any negotiations with the organizers of the Russian Grand Prix,” he quotes sky sport with reference to Bild Sport.
In March, Formula 1 decided to terminate the contract for the Russian Grand Prix ahead of schedule. It was calculated until 2025. In 2022, Sochi was supposed to become the host of the stage, after which the competition was to be held in St. Petersburg at the Igora Drive circuit.
At the same time, the International Automobile Federation (FIA) announced the cancellation of the Russian stage in the upcoming season due to events in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the former owner of Formula 1 Bernie Ecclestone decided to explain his words about Russian President Vladimir Putin. Earlier in the West, the businessman was accused of deciding to support the Russian leader and his decision to launch a special operation in Ukraine.
The tycoon later noted that people often “go out and say something or do something without really thinking about it.” He called his act from the same series. Bernie stressed that he can understand people who think he is defending Putin’s actions, “but he’s not.” As a result, he called on the parties to sit down at the table and agree.
