The head of FC Volna spoke about the team’s start in the Second League

The players of the Nizhny Novgorod “Volna” started in group No. 4 of the Second League “B” of the 2024 season. The team from the Nizhny Novgorod region was revived at the professional level after a short break and entered to participate in the Second League “B”. The head coach of FC Volna was the famous Nizhny Novgorod specialist Oleg Makeev, who worked with the previous team and the youth team of Paris NN. In the first round of the championship, Volna visited Perm, where they failed to score points in a match with the favorite.

In the meeting against Amkar, the Volna players were not considered favorites and gave the victory to Amkar in absentia, taking into account the status and tasks of the red-blacks. Throughout most of the match, Volna defended and tried not to concede, threatening the Amkar goal through counterattacks and set pieces. The players from Perm were able to score the winning goal and break the resistance of the Volna defense only in the 79th minute. The meeting ended with the victory of Amkar with a score of 1:0.

“In the first round, we played the most difficult game of the season, taking into account its guest status and the strength of the opponent. If we talk about the game component of the match, we deliberately played on counterattacks due to the fact that our lineup had not yet been played, and Amkar has more experienced performers,” Denis said.
