The head of Dagestan, Sergei Melikov, said on his Telegram channel that today he looked through the list of children of officials who did not appear at the military registration and enlistment office as part of the autumn campaign.
“There is an attempt to evade compulsory military service,” the head of the region wrote.
He noted that for some, military service is a duty, while others have privileges, just because their dads and moms occupy good positions.
“As a Colonel General, my relatives should serve, but yours shouldn’t?” asked Melikov.
As a result, he instructed the Deputy Prime Minister of Dagestan, Ramazan Jafarov, to find out which of those who did not appear at the military registration and enlistment office really have deferrals from service provided for by law, and who do not have them, and to consider this issue at the next draft board.
“If you are trying to ‘smear off’ your children from the army, then you have nothing to do in the authorities,” Melikov said, adding that this applies to officials at all levels.
