In the Mir-RPL and the First League, teams are still playing for fun and practically do not look at the standings, but in the Second Division the climax of the first segment of the 2023-2024 season has arrived. The fate of the participants in the “Golden” and “Silver” divisions in the Second League “A” and those who rise to them from a weaker tournament are being decided.
In Mir-RPL, the main topic of discussion is still the judges, or, to be more precise, their work and competence, which many doubt. Not a single round of the 2023-2024 season in Mir-RPL ended without a refereeing scandal or an appeal by one of the teams to the ESC. They are dissatisfied with everything that suggests changes that are very necessary.
On October 25, it became known that the RFU had signed agreements on cooperation in the field of refereeing with the Saudi Football Federation and by the end of 2023 a foreign referee could be appointed to Mir-RPL matches.
Igor Kolyvanov spoke about the signing of a cooperation agreement with the Saudi Football Federation.
“To be honest, I don’t remember good referees from Arab countries. I wouldn’t say that we have bad referees. Yes, everyone makes mistakes. But I don’t think that referees from Saudi Arabia are superior to ours. There are just a lot of complaints about refereeing now, especially in the Premier League. They are probably looking for solutions, they want to change the situation,” said Igor Kolyvanov.
